Paris. . .the name is synonymous with high style. France's storied capital is one of the world's most captivating cities, brimming over with art, culture and history. Nestled serenely on the banks of the River Seine, Paris offers a compact network of quaint streets sprinkled with trendy cafés, bars and restaurants. For all it offers, Paris is relatively small; most major sights and museums are within walking distance. One can move easily among the various quartiers (neighborhoods). Must-see landmarks include the world-famous Eiffel Tower; the 164-foot Arc de Triomphe; the magnificent Louvre – the world's largest museum; and the gothic Notre Dame Cathedral in the heart of the city. Paris hosts many festivals and events, such as The French Open tennis tournament (May), Fête nationale or le 14 (quatorze) juillet (Bastille Day, July 14), and the Tour de France bike race (July), which finishes on the Champs-Élysées.
