The City Is Yours
Necessities - Post Offices
Post boxes are red, dotted around town and fairly easy to spot. They are marked with 'TNT Post' and have two slots: the one on the right is for Amsterdam post and the one on the left is for post destined for the rest of the country and abroad. Sometime in 2009, the red boxes are being replaced with bright orange boxes. The city has two major post offices where you can buy stamps and envelopes, send parcels and even buy concert tickets. (There are other smaller branches elsewhere in town.) One is on the Singel canal, five minutes walk from Dam square and the other is on the Waterlooplein within the city hall building. A post office in Dutch is a 'Postkantoor'. Amsterdam Singel 250 1016 AB Mon-Fri 9am-6pm; Sat 10am-1:30pm Waterlooplein 10 1011 PG Mon-Fri 9am-6pm; Sat 10am-1:30pm |
